October Snow Storm CO

We lost power all Tuesday night from the not so happy trees.

A very happy Brown Dog eats the snow!
An early snow storm rolled in on Tuesday night. It snowed all day and through the night Wednesday. School was canceled so Trax was stoked! We fully enjoyed the day together: We made chocolate chip pancakes and bacon for breakfast; kept the wood stove going all day; shoveled and played in the snow with Dudley Brown; walked over to Vic's for a warm, tasty Americano; drank some wine and watched movies in the evening.  And today, another snow day!

This is the view from my bed this morning.  18" on the table.

Brown Dog crashed out last night after a full day in the snow.

Tres Amigos

River and Avery are visiting for the weekend. Should be a lot of fun and high energy around here!

One thing I notice about Viszla's, both smooth coat and wired hair, is they love to look out the window and watch the world go by.  In this case, Avery is watching the leaves fall gently from the trees, and the squirrels burrying nuts.

My Pop

This photo arrived today.  It's of my Pop's family...My Opa, Otto Jordan, in the center celebrating his birthday at my Aunt Mimi's house with all my Aunts and Uncles.  My Pop, Frank Jordan, is the tall fellow on the viewer's right side of the photo wearing the white cap and glasses.  My sister Terri, about 5 years, is standing in front of Dad.  He died 11 1/2 years ago and boy do I miss him!  I've learned since he died that you adjust when you lose a parent, but you never quite get used to them being gone.
Many memories of all these people flooded my mind when I recieved this... Silly things and images I had not thought about in years were as vivid as the day they occured when I was just a little girl...fragrances of over powering perfumes filled my nose... Uncle Buddy's Camel cigarettes...eating roast beef on kimmelweck rolls with horseradish and a loganberry drink...the warmth and comfort of sitting on someones lap... I was stoked to see this photo today and all these familar faces as most of these people have passed on now.  It was a very sweet way to bring my day to an end.

Happy 1/2 Birthday Brown

Dudley Brown turned six months yesterday.  He looks more like a dog than a puppy now, but is still as playful and loving as ever!

Let the Sun Shine!

After days of cold, sometimes snowy, grey, dreary skies, the clouds lifted and the sun shone brightly this afternoon.  Looks like I'm not the only one happy to see it's return!  This fellow was sunning himself when I walked out the door with Brown Dog today.

Dudley Brown

It's been just three months since Dudley Brown came into our lives.  I can't imagine how I ever enjoyed my coffee sitting in the sun without him.  Now we are happily squished into the same chair to share the warmth of the sun together.  I wouldn't want it any other way.

Austin Weekend

In addition to attending the Austin City Limits Festival and listening to great music all weekend, we managed to eat ourselves around and through the city. Mostly enjoying only the best TexMex, Authentic Mexican and of course Real Texas BBQ more than once.

Our host enjoying some baked goods from Joe's  Bakery.
